June means halfway through the year has already come and I thought it would be fun to share how my reading goals are doing and share my statistics thus far.
The only goal I have is an amount of books to read in the year and I use the Goodreads reading challenge to keep track.
My initial reading goal is to read 200 books this year. Mind you, I read many shorter books so this is doable for me. I also am home majority of the day, so I have more free time to read.
So far, I’ve read 137 books (that includes DNF’d books) and I’m 43 books ahead of schedule to complete my reading goal this year.
I noticed with this chart that I tend to rate many of the books I read 3- and 4-stars and rarely rate books 5 stars. I guess this makes me really picky with what I feel is a 5-star book. It also takes me a lot to dislike a book to rate it only 1 star. If I dislike a book, I will more than likely rate it 2 stars.
The longest book I’ve read this year is 790 pages and the shortest book is 49 pages.
I can definitely see a trend where I read more in the colder months since I’m inside more. May was definitely the lowest month because I’ve been extremely outside in my personal life, dealing with a lot both at home and in my career.

With this graph, I can see I lean towards reading MM romance and romance more than any other genre. The horror books are definitely from Stephen King’s backlist which I’ve been working my way through. I can also see that I’ve branched out more with genres and have read more outside of the romance genre than I normally would. I’ve been working my way through my TBR this year and that’s helped a lot.
How are your summer reading goals going? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks,
Kirsten
