Welcome to the Monthly R.E.P.O.R.T. where I share what I’m enjoying this month!
It’s been a busy hockey week for Lyla and I. She had a weekend hockey tournament, which put us out of town for the massive snowstorm we got. Needless to say, it was interesting going home after they lost in the semi-finals and not being able to drive up our street due to the lack of plowing done.
I also went to the doctor for my mental health, which I felt was needed. I’m unsure if it’s the winter blues or something else happening or a mixture of both, but I felt good about what we spoke about and have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks to discuss the results. I’m still in my cozy era, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to get into relaxed mode lately due to our home renovations that have been happening on-and-off this month. I never know if I’ll arrive home from work to find people in my house cleaning, organizing or painting. I’m starting to look forward to the day it’s officially finished.
Reading
I recently finished First Time Caller by B.K. Borison and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also finished Green Mile and Salem’s Lot by Stephen King this month as part of my quest to read his entire backlist of books.
In terms of articles, I enjoyed this piece from Self Magazine on how to not care what people think, which I care about way too much. I’ve been in my cozy era and have been looking for new hobbies to get me through the winter blues. The Good Trade has a great list of 99 hobbies to try and I’ve been eyeing a few on it. I’ve been on the lookout for pottery classes in my area because of it.
I also bought Let’s Go to the Mall, which is an ‘90s seek-and-find book because it looks so fun.
Enjoying
Slow cooker meals. In the winter, I try to make a different slow cooker meal every Sunday, especially because hockey season is so unpredictable on when games and practice times are. I’m eyeing these pulled pork sliders for my next slow cooker meal.
Playing
I’ve been spinning Carole King’s Tapestry on vinyl, which I found in a local used record shop awhile back. It’s one of my favorite albums to listen to, especially during the fall and winter months.
My daughter and I have been playing Super Mario Party Jamboree a lot together and we can spend all evening playing and laughing. We are very competitive so we don’t take it too seriously or else someone will storm off mad.
Obsessing
About cozy games! I recently purchased the MySims: Cozy Bundle for the Nintendo Switch and it reminds me of Animal Crossing. It comes with 2 games: MySims and MySims Kingdom. I’ve only played MySims so far and loving it.
Recommending
This 365 day photography challenge. I recently discovered it and am hoping to pick it up starting March 1st. I’m not the best at taking photos and don’t normally do it. I’m hoping this will help.
Treating
I treated myself to a brand new shower liner, which isn’t exciting to most people, but we really needed it since our current shower curtain feels more like a fabric and is already starting to go discoloured at the bottom.
I also bought this cookbook because I have another Tasty cookbook that I use quite a bit.
What have you been enjoying this month? Let me know in the comments.
Hope to see you here again,
Kirsten
