Summer Reading Challenge 2025
the one where I share my first summer reading challenge for adults
Summer is approaching fast! I’ve always enjoyed books set in the summer or that are set while on vacation. It gives me beachy vibes that I just can’t get enough of. While making my summer reading list, I thought a reading challenge for the summer would be a great idea, especially since many reading programs are aimed towards children.
I’ve compiled a list of prompts if you wish to join me on my summer reading journey. I’ve tried to make the prompts a wide variety so you get to read multiple genres or you can tailor it to a prompt of your choosing. You can also do all of them or pick a few. Tailor this challenge to your wants and needs and please feel free to let me know what you’re currently reading for a prompt. I would love to see it!
A book featuring a journey or road trip.
A book you can finish in one day. (Novella, graphic novel, short story collection.)
A book of poetry.
A non-fiction book about a topic you want to learn more about.
A book set in a country other than your own.
A book you already own but haven't read yet.
Read a book by a local author. (Check your library or local bookstores!)
Read a book that's been on your "to-read" list for over a year.
A book with the word “summer” in the title.
A book in a genre you don't usually read.
I’ll be back next week with recommendations for each prompt so keep an eye out for that!
