I’m back with a new installment called The Book & Screen Dispatch. This feature will be about recently announced books and upcoming adaptations. I’m a sucker for a book adaptation and cover reveal and thought I would share any exciting (to me) news with you.

Harper Lee has a new collection of short stories being published this fall with the collection being named The Land of Sweet Forever. “The book, out on Oct. 21 from Harper, includes eight previously unreleased stories and eight pieces of nonfiction that Lee published in various outlets between 1961 and 2006, including a profile of her friend, the writer Truman Capote, a cornbread recipe and a letter to Oprah Winfrey.” (NYT)
Little Brown Books will be releasing three new special edition versions of The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyers. They release on Sept. 30 and will include new imagery and interactive elements. You can check out each edition in the link. (People)
Ali Hazelwood’s follow up to Bride, called Mate, now has a cover. The author revealed it on her Instagram page. Release is scheduled for Oct. 7, 2025. (Book Riot)
The American Library Association (ALA) has announced the list of winners for several book awards including Caldecott, Newberry and more for the 2025 Youth Media Awards. You can find the full list on their website. (ALA)
Kevin Smith is writing a comic for Archie titled Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob. It will be a mature book and will take place after Clerks III and will be about death and grieving. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Margaret Atwood’s memoir has been announced recently by the author because “my publishers made me do it.” The memoir, titled Book of Lives, will be released Dec. 4, 2025. (Book Riot)
A new adaptation based on Moby Dick is coming from Alexis Hall titled Hell’s Heart. According to the author, “Hell’s Heart is full of things I love: adventure, queerness, kissing, and, of course, hunting space whales on Jupiter.” (Reactor Mag)
The Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction has announced their Longlist. It includes “authors drawn from a wide range of professional spheres and expertise, including a music icon, human rights lawyer, political adviser, marine biologist, NHS palliative care doctor and Pulitzer Prize winner.” (Women’s Prize)
Hulu’s A Court of Thorns and Roses adaptation is officially dead. Rumors started about an adaptation in Feb. 2024 and now those rumors have been debunked. (Book Riot)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is back on with a new director. Maggie Betts has signed on to both direct and co-write the script. (Collider)
The Hunger Games is becoming a stage production beginning Oct. 20, 2025. The Hunger Games: On Stage will begin performances at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, a brand new 1,200 seat venue in London's Canary Wharf. Tickets for The Hunger Games: On Stage will go on-sale at 1pm GMT on Thursday, 27 March 2025. (Broadway World)
After Disney lost the rights, The Children of Blood & Bone has finally begun filming with the author posting a picture on set on Instagram. (Screen Rant)
Jake Gyllenhaal will lead M. Night Shymalan’s new movie based on Nicholas Sparks’ new romantic thriller. It will be a collaboration between Shymalan and Sparks, with the former writing a screenplay and the latter a novel, independently with both based on the same story. (Variety)
