The Body: A Guide for Occupants by Bill Bryson
Genre: 📚 Non-Fiction
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I found this a fascinating read about the human body and why it works the way it does. Bill Bryson put in the research for this book and it shows. If you find the human body interesting and would like to learn more about it, I highly recommend this read.
Feral (Wicked Nights at Lair #1) by Mia Monroe
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🧛 MM Vampire Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: An insta-love romance between a human and a vampire. There’s a bit of obsession and violence, but honestly, I can’t remember much else except the main problem for the human MC is wrapped up very quickly.
The Royal Curse (Twilight Mages #1) by Eliot Grayson
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🧙 MM Mage Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A very spicy read between a mage and his bodyguard. It started a bit slow for me, but I very quickly got into it and I finished this in one day.
The Captive’s Curse (Twilight Mages #2) by Eliot Grayson
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🧙 MM Mage Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: The second in the series, I had high hopes for this one after thoroughly enjoying the first. Another spicy romance between a captive mage and his captor, aka enemies-to-lovers. I couldn’t get into this one as much as I did the first and found myself skimming it. I’m not the biggest fan of enemies-to-lovers as a trope, though, so that may be why.
Bound to the Wild Fae (Fortune Favors the Fae #3) by Tavia Lark
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🧝 MM Fae Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this multi-author series connected by a fae coin. This book in the series is about a human gifted with magic to see through glamours ends up cursed to be bound to a wild fae. Shenanigans and romance ensue. A cute story and even cuter characters.
A Stealthy Situation (Franklin U 2 #2) by Saxon James
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🏫 MM College Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I am a huge lover of Saxon James’ writing, but if you aren’t familiar with her writing, this is a confusing book. There are a lot of assumptions and loose ends in this book. Assumptions because there are many other characters that pop up throughout that the writer assumes you know from her other series and loose ends because I was left with questions about some of the things that are discussed and resolved off-page.
The Heir’s Disgrace (Doormen of the Upper East Side #1) by August Jones
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨 MM Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A dark romance between a doorman and one of the rich, entitled tenants he despises. This was a very spicy read and I absolutely loved it. I quickly added the second book to my tbr once I finished this one.
The American Roommate Experiment (Spanish Love Deception #2) by Elena Armas
Genre: ♥️ Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐
Thoughts: I had high hopes going into this one after loving the first, Spanish Love Deception, but I didn’t enjoy this at all. I found a few of the things that happened in the book made me angry, so I couldn’t get into it.
Genre: ♥️🏒 Hockey Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐
Thoughts: I love Elle Kennedy and thought this would be one of those books where I instantly fall in love, but it wasn’t. I couldn’t stand the main character and I didn’t like the premise of the book.
Genre: 📚 Short Story
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I absolutely love the movie Stand By Me, which is based on this short story and this was just as good. If you haven’t watched the movie, it’s a great summer movie about 4 boys who go looking for a dead body.
The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
Genre: ♥️ Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A refreshing romance about a female bodyguard sent to guard a male actor. This is the third book I’ve read by Katherine Center and I enjoy them so much. I declared Hello Stranger the best romance I’ve ever read and this was up there with it.
Lucky Shot (For Puck’s Sake #3) by Crea Reitan
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🏒 MM Hockey Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐
Thoughts: I DNF’d this very quickly. I’ve tried with this series and I can’t seem to get into it each time. The way this book was written focused more on another romance between the MC and someone else rather than the MC and the main love interest, which I didn’t like.
As White As Snow (Damaged Devils #13) by Charity Parkerson
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🔫 MM Mafia Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I honestly don’t remember much of this book, except it’s insta-love and it’s about a relationship between two men who get back together again after being apart for years. FYI, you do need to read the previous books in this series.
Wreaking Havoc (Demon Bound #1) by Grae Bryan
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨👹 MM Monster Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A hilarious and sweet romance between a human and the demon he summons to protect him. I loved the dynamic between the characters and it made me laugh out loud at times. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store (Dream Harbor #2) by Laurie Gilmore
Genre: ♥️ Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I love this series so much. I enjoyed the The Pumpkin Spice Cafe a lot and quickly placed this one on hold at my local library and it lived up to the first one. It was such a cute and cozy romance.
One-Star Romance by Laura Hankin
Genre: ♥️ Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A slow-burn romance between an author and the guy who gave her book a one-star review. It gives awkward, but hot and fun due to the enemies-to-lovers trope. I enjoyed this one a lot and flew through it.
Boyfriend Material (London Calling #1) by Alexis Hall
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨 MM Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would. It’s a romance between a bad boy and the fake romance he has with the good guy to make his scandals go away. A great concept, but I didn’t like the writing style.
Genre: ♥️ Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: With all the buzz surrounding this book and its upcoming adaptation, I quickly put this book on hold at my local library. I loved this sweet romance between two writers. I enjoyed every book I’ve read by Emily Henry and this was no exception.
SOS Hotel: Great Service from Top to Bottom (SOS Hotel #4) by Adam Vex
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨MMM Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A slow-burn romance between a “human” (who might not actually be human), a vampire, and an incubus who run into trouble constantly while restoring a hotel for the supernatural. Each book follows the same storyline so best read in order. I love this series and it always makes me laugh.
For the Cameras (Fixer Brothers Construction Co #6) by Raleigh Ruebins
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨MM Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I so enjoy this series and this one was no exception. A cute and spicy read about a cameraman for a renovation show and the camboy he’s a fan of who turns out to be the next person for an episode of the show.
Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll
Genre: 🕵️Mystery/Thriller
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I had high hopes for this book because it was a Goodreads Choice Award nominee in 2023 for readers’ favorite mystery/thriller. It was an okay read for me, but didn’t catch my attention a lot and I found myself skimming a bit.
The Break-Up Pact by Emma Lord
Genre: ♥️ Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: I haven’t read any books by Emma Lord, so I picked this up from Libby since it’s been on my list for awhile. It was a cute read and it engrossed me quickly.
The Sorcerer’s Thief (Fortune Favors the Fae #4) by Lee Colgin
Genre: 👨❤️💋👨🧝 MM Fae Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thoughts: A fun read about a human thief who steals a fae coin and the sorcerer who is trying to get it back. I didn’t enjoy this addition to the series as much as I have the other books. I found myself skimming this one a bit.
