November was a relaxing month for me. We celebrate Thanksgiving in October in Canada, so I already had my dinner and family stress last month. I’m still patiently waiting for our first snow fall and hoping for a white Christmas for once. When I was a child, we always had snow and snow days. Now, we’re lucky if we even get one good snowfall. My daughter will never know what it was like to wake up hoping for that snow day and look outside seeing it. She will never know what it’s like to excitedly get bundled up and run outside to play with her friends. I grew up on a street with many children, so we would make mountains on our lawns and slide down them. I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately. Can you tell? Has anyone else been feeling this way?
The Only Survivors - Megan Miranda: 2/5 stars. I could not get into this book. The pacing of it was extremely slow for me and I couldn’t connect with any of the characters so I didn’t care what happened.
Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders - Joshua Foer: 5/5 stars. I LOVED this book. It was so interesting to learn about unique items and places on our planet. Not gonna lie, I read the Wikipedia pages for many of the entries to expand on what was written.
Restless (Squad Goals #2) - Willow Thomas: 4/5 stars. This was a hot and spicy read and always look forward to reading Willow’s books. I haven’t read one I haven’t liked yet.
Teddy (Elite 8 Studios #5) - Emmy Sanders: 5/5 stars. Another series where I’ve loved them all. The chemistry between the MCs was hot hot hot.
Ana Maria and the Fox (The Luna Sisters #1) - Liana De la Rosa: 3/5 stars. This was an okay read for me. It’s your typical regency romance. I won’t be picking up the second in the series.
Elite Connections: An LGBTQ Romance Charity Anthology - Various Authors: 4/5 stars. I only read the MM stories in this, but most of them I enjoyed. I don’t believe this book is available anymore.
Fangirl Down (Big Shots #1) - Tessa Bailey: 4/5 stars. This was a really cute read and the spice was off the charts hot. It was a unique story due to it involving golf, which I haven’t read before. I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series.
My Demon Charming (My Demon Charming #1) - Rhys Lawless: 2/5 stars. This was one I didn’t end up finishing. I couldn’t get into it.
Bright Lights, Big Christmas - Mary Kay Andrews: 3/5 stars. It was meh. A typical holiday novel.
Teach Me (Extracurricular Activities #4) - Neve Wilder: 4/5 stars. I love this series so much. This was a really good part of the series and ends it on a high note, since it’s the last.
The Mistletoe Motive - Chloe Liese: 4/5 stars. I picked this up in eBook format from my local library and it didn’t disappoint. It follows 2 co-managers of a bookstore, one who loves Christmas and the other doesn’t. One is completely clueless about how the other feels.
4-Ever (Wayward Lane #3) - Ava Olsen: 4/5 stars. I was looking forward to this book of the series since the author teased it in the previous books. It didn’t disappoint for me.
Twisted Games (Twisted #2) - Ana Huang: 3/5 stars. Meh. It dragged on for me too much and took way too long to find what the story was besides forbidden romance. I’ll be skipping the next book of the series because I can’t stand the character it’s about, but I’ll be reading the 4th.
The Amazing Alpha Tau Pledge Project (Alpha Tau #3) - Lisa Henry & Sarah Honey: 3/5 stars. Another DNF book for me. I loved the previous books, but this one I couldn’t click with.
The Christmas Inn - Pamela M. Kelley: 3/5 stars. DNF at 10% for this one. The pacing was too slow for me. If you’re into Hallmark movies in book form, this might be for you.
Naughty Elf: Aster - Lorelai M. Hart: 3/5 stars. A quick and cute read about an elf who gets punished by becoming a statue until they meet their forever home person.
The Christmas Orphans Club - Becca Freeman: 3/5 stars. An okay read for me, I finished this quickly. I ended up skimming a bit of it because it wasn’t my favorite.
The Christmas Murder Game - Alexandra Benedict: 2/5 stars. I saw this advertised at Chapters and it intrigued me. I didn’t enjoy it simply because it tried too hard to be Clue but for Christmas.
Window Shopping - Tessa Bailey: 2/5 stars. Another DNF book. I wasn’t connecting with the story or characters.
Claus and Effect - Piper Rayne: 4/5 stars. I found this to be a fast, fun, cute read. 2 people who are complete opposites and have already had a bad encounter between each other end up having to share a rental car because their flight gets delayed. Shenanigans ensue while road-tripping.
What did you read in November? Let me know in the comments.
Hope to see you here again,
Kirsten
