the book stack is a substack for all types of books and readers.
I’ve been deep in my cozy era this winter and I can fully say it’s the only thing keeping me sane. From crafts to games to books, I thought I would compile a list of cozy books I have on my TBR list that I’m picking up this winter.
This list is not an exhaustive list of all of them, but ones I’ve been really looking forward to reading. In the future, I’ll compile a list of ones I’ve already read and enjoyed.
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store (Dream Harbor #2) - Laurie Gilmore: After reading the first one (that I thoroughly enjoyed), I can’t wait to pick up the second book in the series. It follows Hazel, a bookstore owner, and Noah, the fisherman who has a crush on her. The author teased their romance in the first addition of the series and after all the blushing glances at each other, I hope it lives up to the hype.
The Spellshop - Sarah Beth Durst: I just recently heard about this book and it was recommended to me. It’s billed as “a Hallmark rom-com full of mythical creatures and fueled by cinnamon rolls and magic.” Sign me up!
Book Lovers - Emily Henry: I am a big fan of Emily Henry based on the two novels I’ve read by her. Surprisingly, this isn’t one that I’ve read yet, but has been on my list for awhile. “One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming…” Sounds like my idea of a good time if it’s enemies-to-lovers.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches - Sangu Mandanna: Another book that’s been on my list for a bit, but definitely going to put on hold next at my library. Who doesn’t want to read a fantasy romance about an isolated witch?
Cemetery Boys - Aiden Thomas: Admittedly, I have had this book on my TBR for awhile and have yet to pick it up. It’s no longer available at my library as an eBook and haven’t checked if it’s available as a physical copy. A LGBTQ2SIA+ novel about a guy who summons a hot, bad boy ghost by accident.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries (Emily Wilde #1) - Heather Fawcett: I recently added this to my TBR because it sounded right up my alley. “A curmudgeonly professor journeys to a small town in the far north to study faerie folklore and discovers dark fae magic, friendship, and love in the start of a heartwarming and enchanting new fantasy series.”
Half a Soul (Regency Faerie Tales #1) - Olivia Atwater: A book that is marketed as “Bridgerton meets Howl's Moving Castle in this enchanting historical fantasy, where the only thing more meddlesome than faeries is a marriage-minded mother.” It’s about a woman cursed by a faerie to only have half a soul and meets a man who may be the other half.
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon (Mead Mishaps #1) - Kimberly Lemming: It’s about a woman who saves a demon in a drunken stupor and gets dragged along on an adventure to kill an evil witch. It also says he keeps burning his shirt off, so you can already tell spiciness will ensue.
Crumbs - Danie Stirling1: How cute does this graphic novel look? Ray, a young seer struggling with her powers, discovers first love and friendship in her town's magic bakery.
The Seven Year Slip - Ashley Poston: An overworked book publicist with a perfectly planned future hits a snag when she falls in love with her temporary roommate…only to discover he lives seven years in the past.” I’ve heard great things about this book, but have yet to pick it up. I’m calling it that this is the year I finally do.
